Rudimentary Recipes for Barbeque Sauce

Recipes for Barbeque Sauce

Recipes for Barbeque Sauce!

If you are to think, where in the world did barbeque originated. We’ll folks there are stories out there that relates to how our favorite barbeque came about, but most etymologists ultimately believe that it is derived from the word “barabicu” which means ”sacred fire pit”. Cool eh. But I prefer the BAR, BEER and Cues Story. Now let’s not get anymore into “how it came all about stuff” now the “Sauce” And dont ask me who is the genius behind the sacred barbeque sauce or where it first originated or which tribe who first came up with using a barbeque sauce because i honestly dont know. Google it folks.

On a serious note though, Barbeque sauce, however you want to spell it, is the single most important ingridient which breathes life to the barbeque we all love. Coz however you want to put it, i personally, will not eat a barbeque that is not marinated or prepared with some kind of sauce, even if you bet me a thousand bucks. What are the odds of that.

Recipes for Barbeque SauceTypes of BBQ Sauce

There are several types of Barbeque sauce out there. They vary in consistency. Some are very thin in consistency, for instance the NOrth Carolina Sauce, while others, like the Kansas City Barbeque sauce, has a very thick and sticky consistency. Different recipes also varies in the base used in making the sauce, traditionally, people use vinegar, tomato paste, and mustard.

They also vary geographically. (i’ll have them detailed on the next post)

BBQ sauce can be used before, during, and after cooking the meat. The only caution is to avoid using barbecue sauce that contains tomatoes or a lot of sugar during the cooking process. These ingredients burn too easily and can affect the taste of your meat.

Recipes for Barbeque Sauce "Mopping Sauce"They are also different depending on how they are used for a particular purpose. Mopping sauce also known as basting sauce is used to “mop” the barbecue while the food is turned. It is most oftenly confused with barbeque sauce or the dipping sauce. Dry rubs on the other hand are used to coat the meat and adds a flavorful crust to the meat. The mop sauce containing a lot of flavor, is thin enough to leave a thin layer on the surface of the meat that then is able to soak in as the meat continues to cook.

Recipes for Barbeque Sauce

Here are three basic recipes for barbeque sauce that you can start with and prepare at home- one for every base aforementioned above.

Try them out and add different spices and sweeteners that suits your taste.

1       tablespoon salt

1       tablespoon black pepper

1       tablespoon of red pepper flakes

Add spices which suits your taste. A little bit of heat will not hurt.

3. Then the salt, cayenne pepper, black pepper, red pepper flakes and hot sauce to give it a bite       or sting.

This is best as a finishing sauce for pulled pork. As you can see, it’s more of a Carolina type of sauce. So it’s a great recip. What else can I say.

Recipes for Barbeque Sauce "Mustard Base"Mustard-Based BBQ Sauce

Ingredients:

2    tbsp of butter

1    tbsp of brown mustard seeds

1/2 cup yellow mustard

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup white vinegar

1    tbsp. Worcestershire sauce

1    tsp of cayenne pepper

1    tsp of salt

1    tsp of black pepper

Directions

1. Heat a pan with 2 tbsp of butter. Then add and saute the mustard seeds.

2. Whisk it until it’s just about the right texture.

3. Then start adding each ingridient ask you whisk it (brown sugar, white vinegar, worcestershire sauce, cayenne pepper, salt and black pepper)

4. Add half cup of water and let it simmer in the pan for 5 minutes. Sauces made from mustard are perfect for smoked pork.

Note: It’s of best practice that the sauce be allowed to combine before you plan to serve it. The real secret is to give the sauce time for the flavors to mix. Therefore, it is best if you make up your barbecue sauce a day or two before you intend to serve it. You really will notice the difference. Now, go on and experiment. Try and try until you’ve discovered your holy grail of recipes for barbeque sauce.

Barbecue Sauce ? Store Bought or Home Made

Many people ask the question “Which is better? Store bought or home made barbeque sauce?” It really comes down to what your personal preference is but if the run of the mill taste of the bbq sauce found on grocery store shelves just doesn’t cut it then creating your own secret sauce can be part of the grilling fun.

Let’s face it, using the right or wrong kind of barbecue sauce can make or break your barbecue. The flavor of your meat, poultry or pork will live or die by the sauce that you choose. Barbecue sauce provides that extra kick that barbecue is known for and with the right kind of sauce any dish you prepare will taste that much better.

Let’s look at store bought barbecue sauce for a moment. We’ve all seen the bottles lining the shelves. They come in different flavors and colors, in small bottles and large bottles, but are they really the best choice for the ultimate in barbecue tastiness? It seems that most people are satisfied by what they offer, otherwise they wouldn’t buy them. But for most people it’s probably just a matter of convenience. What most consumers don’t realize is that barbecue sauce bought at the local grocery store is nothing more then a watered down version of the homemade sauces that make barbecue so popular in the first place.

Foods that sit on grocery store shelves have been manufactured with a long shelf life in mind. The ingredients used are chosen because they will not go bad quickly and in many cases are less then healthy. The barbecue sauce found on store shelves uses high fructose corn syrup as a sugar substitute because it is a whole lot cheaper to use than natural sugar.

While sugar is not necessarily healthy high fructose corn syrup is even less so. It is a sugar substitute that is a low grade quality food. The human body is actually unable to metabolize and break it down so when it gets to your liver it is almost always instantly turned into fat.

There is an easy way around this problem, make your own barbecue sauce. Nobody is saying that barbecue sauce is the healthiest of food products, but by making your own recipes you can cut out some of the processed foods such as high fructose corn syrup. The way real barbecue sauce is made is with natural cane sugar or brown sugar. There are also hundreds of spices and herbs readily available as well as other ingredients that if combined right can make a tasty sauce that will have friends and family asking you for your secret recipe.

You start with a basic sauce and add to it from there. A base sauce consists of melted butter, sugar and small portions of chili powder, salt, and black pepper. Once you have a basic foundation sauce made you can add some tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, maybe some onion powder. Mixing these basic ingredients in different amounts and combinations will give you a multitude of flavors to start with. After that you can start adding any number of other spices, herbs or flavorings such as lemon juice, hickory or mesquite flavoring to make a truly personalized barbecue sauce. With a little patience you can create a sauce that can compete with the best of them.

Store bought barbecue sauce will work in a pinch but for truly remarkable barbecue taste creating your own home made barbecue sauce is the best way to go.

I love trying new recipes and making them my own. I bought a package of fresh chicken breasts and made a yummy weight watcher recipe with three breasts. My hubby and I only ate one each, so there was one big breast leftover. It already had a little BBQ sauce on it, so it made this recipe extra delicious.

Ingredients:

Gluten Free Pizza Crust (pre-made)

Favorite BBQ Sauce (spread thin on crust)

1-2 Chicken breasts (depending on size or amount you want to use)

Fresh Pineapple in tidbit sizes

Red Onion (in rings)

Weight Watchers Mozzarella Cheese

Jalapeños

Directions:

Build your pizza & Bake at 400 degrees for 12-15 mins.

Top with some fresh Cilantro :)

This is a quick meal. Also, it is great for the summer !! I hope you will try this recipe and share with others.  It is perfect for a party, evening alone with you partner, or even for yourself. You will love it and trust me you will make it again for your family and friends.

I have been in the financial industry for 8 years.
