Cleaning Tips for Bbq Island and Built in Grills
Built in grills need cleaning as well! If only we cared for this, there would have been fewer problems with faulty built in grills. The fact is that built in grills of outdoor kitchens need as much care as its indoor counterpart. Grates especially should be cleaned thoroughly after every use. This stops food from sticking to the built in grills. It is best to clean just after using the built in grills. Once the built in grills has cooled down a little, you can use a brush to clean. It is easier to clean while the built in grill is warm because the food gets hardened to the grate if allowed to cool.
Coming to Bbq Island, a cleaner bbq island has lesser chances of breaking down in the long run. To keep your bbq island in top condition, you should store it properly using grill island covers. Whether you have a complete outdoor kitchen with built in grills, or just a plain tabletop hibachi, maintaining cleanliness gets the best out of your bbq island. This ultimately will improve the life of your grill island. There are various cleaning methods available for a grill island. If you want to clean a Charcoal Grill, you should first make sure the grill island is cooled before cleaning. Remove the grates from inside the grill island and remove any ash residue. You can clean the grill grates with a spraying type of oven cleaner. Spray all surfaces with the oven cleaner and leave it for sometime to soften the accumulated grease. Also spray inside the grill island and allow it to settle. You can then wash the grills’ outer surface with soap water. Always use a soft cloth for cleaning the outer surface of the grill island. Finally, you can use a paper towel to wipe the surfaces clean.
If yours is a Gas bbq island you can start by turning your grill island ON for around ten minutes with the cover closed. Then turn off the grill island and allow it to cool a little. Use a brass brittle brush to slacken the scum from the grill rack. After the Bbq Island has cooled completely, you can wipe the outer and inner grill surfaces with a soft cloth and soap water. Follow with clean water and wipe it dry. The Bbq Island especially needs prompt cleaning after every use. You can start cleaning by putting some sheets of tin foil over the cooking grid of the Bbq Island and cranking the heat for half an hour. As everything gets turned to ash, it is much easier to clean this way. Check the built in grills manuals though to see if this is allowed. For the outer surface of the built in grills, you can wipe off any food particles and wash using a cleaning powder. Again remember to use a non abrasive cloth to avoid scratching the built in grills. The Real Truth About Cooking Great Barbeque Brisket
A barbecue brisket cooked by a skilled barbecue chef is a tasty treat. Have you ever tried to barbecue a brisket? If you are like most folks you know it’s troublesome to try and do well. It is nothing worse than making an attempt to chew a tough brisket. When you know the rules to cooking brisket you may realize that’s not that difficult. Follow the rules below and you may be cooking terrific brisket that everybody will love.
Barbecue brisket originated in Texas in all probability is the result of all the meat that’s grown within the state. Brisket is tough. It is the cut of meat now just behind the foreshank. It has a boat load of connective tissue that’s full of collagen.
The nice issue about brisket is that It is full of flavor. Meaning that It is good for low and slow barbecue cooking. Let’s get to the steps.
1. 1st thing you want to try and do to clean the brisket and pat it dry.

4. The subsequent step is to marinate. To marinate, use the rub in the previous step to cover the meat. Be generous in the number used. A smart trick to use is to rub the meat with olive oil before putting the spice rub on. Place the meat in a very plastic container or plastic bag and refrigerate overnight.
5. The subsequent step is to barbecue the meat. A real barbecue cook will use a smart dose of wood smoke to induce that real barbecue flavor. Prep your smoker and get the temperature to about 225°F. At this temperature the meat will take about 9-12 hours. Have some water soaked wood chunks prepared to put on a fire.
6. Put the meat within the smoker and Put some wood chunks on the hot coals. I wish to use Hickory wood chunks for brisket. you want the brisket to smoke for about 2 hours or until the meat reaches about one hundred forty°F. At this time wrap the brisket in foil and place back within the smoker.
7. you want the brisket to cook until the interior temperature reaches about one hundred ninety°F.
8. Take the brisket out of the smoker at this time and let it rest for about twenty minutes. At this temperature of the meat should be terribly tender and pull apart very easily.
9. If you follow these steps you must have pretty good brisket when done.

Spinach & Strawberry Salad
Ingredients:
• One 9 ounce package of baby spinach leaves
• 1 1/2 cups of sliced strawberries
• 1/3 cup toasted almonds
• 3-4 sliced green onions
• Olive oil
• White Balsamic vinegar
• Sea salt and fresh ground pepper ( to taste)
Instructions:
• Toast the almonds on a pan in the oven at 300 degrees F for a few minutes (they brown quickly) or place the almonds in a small skillet over medium heat until toasted (shake the skillet a few times while over the heat to toast evenly)
• Make sure to remove any stems from the spinach and place the leaves in a salad bowl with the green onions
• Drizzle with a little olive oil (just enough to lightly coat the spinach)
• Place the bowl in the refrigerator until serving time
To serve:
• Rinse the strawberries just before tossing the salad, dry them and slice them
• Add the toasted almonds and sliced strawberries to the salad bowl and sprinkle with white balsamic vinaigrette to taste
• Add a little salt and fresh ground pepper and toss the salad and then plate
And who can ignore a BBQ recipe on Memorial Day. Here’s one to check out –
BBQ Steaks
1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
1/4 cup soy sauce
3 tablespoons minced garlic
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 teaspoons ground black pepper
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon onion powder
salt ( to taste )
1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring
1 pinch cayenne pepper
2 (1/2 pound) beef rib eye steaks
In a medium bowl, combine the vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, olive oil, ground black pepper, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, salt, liquid smoke and cayenne pepper.
Place steaks in a shallow, nonporous dish, and pour marinade over steaks. For optimum flavor, rub the liquid into the meat. Cover, and let marinate in the refrigerator for 24 to 48 hours.
Preheat an outdoor grill for medium-high to high heat. Grill steaks for 7 to 8 minutes per side on a lightly oiled grate.
And here’s one for the burger lovers –
Wasabi Salmon Burgers
Ingredients
• 2 tablespoons reduced-sodium soy sauce
• 1 1/2 teaspoons wasabi powder
• 1 pound salmon fillet
• 2 each scallions
• 1 each egg
• 2 tablespoons minced peeled fresh ginger
• 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
Cooking Instructions
Whisk soy sauce, wasabi powder and honey in a small bowl until smooth. Set aside.
With a large chef’s knife, chop salmon using quick, even, straight-up-and-down motions (do not rock the knife through the fish or it will turn mushy). Continue chopping, rotating the knife, until you have a mass of roughly 1/4-inch pieces. Transfer to a large bowl. Add scallions, egg, ginger and oil; stir to combine. Form the mixture into 4 patties. The mixture will be moist and loose, but holds together nicely once the first side is cooked.
Coat a large nonstick skillet with cooking spray and heat over medium heat for 1 minute. Add the patties and cook for 4 minutes. Turn and continue to cook until firm and fragrant, about 3 minutes. Spoon the reserved wasabi glaze evenly over the burgers and cook for 15 seconds more. Serve immediately.
